New Order’s “Blue Monday” is no stranger to remixes and remakes, with various different versions popping up since it’s debut in 1983. Last remixed by Vandalism in 2009, former New Order member Peter Hook says he’d like to see new versions of the track interpreted by David Guetta, Soulwax, and Calvin Harris.

“When we went to New York in ’81/’82, the disco and electro started to sink in,” Hook told The Observer. “I knew we weren’t going to go disco. We were going to offer a white northern take on black disco music – and then we started working with Arthur Baker, who wrote ‘IOU’. His attitude to writing dance music was like a punk writing punk. Very adventurous, off the wall, anything goes.

“I like the modern versions of him too – Calvin Harris, Soulwax, David Guetta. My dream for the 30th anniversary of ‘Blue Monday’ is for them all to do a mad commercial remix of it.”

While Hook is not a current member of New Order, so whether or not this happens, remains to be seen.
